Born in Porto, on November 6, 1919. She started writing very young and with extreme exigency, becoming one of the most important poets of the 20th century. Her work has been translated into several languages, receiving distinctions at national and international level, being the first woman to receive, in 1999, the most important literary award of the Portuguese language, the Camões Prize.
