A espera was painted during the current lockdown and it symbolizes a desire to feel free again. The artist was forced to return to her hometown in Madeira Island because of the new lockdown in Lisbon, where she studies. During this time, she felt as if was living the first quarantine again and quickly realized that she would have to deal again with anxiety and many obsessive thoughts. One day she decided to go out and take a walk through the streets of the island - which is not in loockdown - as a way to fight these feelings. It was the golden hour and she found a tiny house, plain but pretty, and it made her think «I don’t need many things. Just a child’s heart to see beauty in everything».While painting this picture the artist was filled with joy, but mostly hope: hope in humanity, hope that better days will come, hope in light and colours, hope in life.
